Recently our beloved Pastor Jeff Coester and his wife Mary left the church to return to Indiana. A Search Committee is interviewing prospective candidates. Our hope is that God will direct us to our next Pastor soon. Currently we are blessed to have Pastors in the area come and deliver a Message each Sunday. If you are a member or a friend of The Big Red Church and are in need of pastoral care please call the church office.
Janet Clites is our Office Administrator. Janet loves the Church family and the facility. She has been a member of the church since 1960 along with her husband, Jim. Janet grew up in Stockton, IL and came to Sterling when she and Jim were married in 1959. Jim passed away in August 2015. Over the years she has worked in banks, been a stay at home mom, and was a Realtor for almost twenty years. For another twenty years, she and her husband and two sons, Randy and Steve, worked together in a family business, C & E Glass Co. She took classes at Sauk Valley College and became a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2006. Currently Janet is Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Caring Center, and she is a student at Sauk Valley Community College taking a class in Graphic Design each semester. Janet has been in the office of the church since 2006. The history of the building and congregation are of great interest to her. She enjoys her work, and the people she works with.
Steve has been a member of the church since being Confirmed May 14, 1978. He is a graduate of Sterling High School, attended Whiteside Area Vocational School, and has taken classes at Sauk Valley Community College. He owns his own handyman business and does work in the Sauk Valley Area for individuals and businesses. Steve is a member and officer of Sterling Moose Family Center. He is a lifelong resident of Sterling and for over twenty years worked in their family business, C & E Glass Co. with his parents and brother, Randy. From the boilers in the basement to the speakers in the tower, Steve knows where everything is and what it takes to make it work. Steve likes to repair things and the challenge going along with that. He enjoys being involved in the church in many ways and doesn’t mind being called to help where and when needed.
